Artist Alice Matzkin became increasingly judgmental about her body as she entered late middle age... too fat, too wrinkled, too droopy.

She addressed her fear and self criticism with paint and brush. Alice began a series of large portraits of women in their late 50’s to late 80’s who were accepting of their body’s appearance, and brave enough to be painted nude.

The result is the twelve sensitive and respectful paintings (including a self portrait) that comprise the series NAKED TRUTH, part of the dual award winning book co-authored with her sculptor husband Richard, The Art of Aging: Celebrating the Authentic Aging Self.
